Bio
Pablo Pegalajar began his career in Spain, studying with conductors such as Enrique García Asensio and Jesús Amigo, as well as composers like Jesús Rueda and Alicia Díaz. With his professional conducting experience, his background in music theory, and his academic achievements, he earned a Fulbright Grant and a “la Caixa” scholarship, which enabled him to enlarge his studies Orchestral Conducting in the United States.
While working toward his doctorate with Mark Gibson at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, he was able to expand his podium experiencien with diverse maestri including Marin Alsop, Mei-Ann Chen, Robert Spano, Nicolás Pasquet, Karel Mark Chichon, Andrew Constantine, Lawrence Golan, and Gianluigi Gelmetti among many others. Among his acknowledgements he held the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Conducting Fellow position for the 2023/2024 season and, in 2022, he was awarded Third Prize in the first International Competition for Young Conductors "Maestro Borislav Ivanov" by the State Opera Varna in Bulgaria.
As a researcher, he is focused on enhancing the visibility of the Andalusian symphonic repertoire and orchestral tradition in Spain, as well as defining cultural and musical bridges between Spain and the U.S. He is currently working as a freelance conductor while collaborating with the Fundación Archivo Manuel de Falla in Granada, Spain.
